Today I’m going to cover the difference between an absolute top impression share and a top impression share.
And the difference top impression share means the percentage of time your ads are shown in the top four ads.
At the top of the Google Ads search results, absolute top impression and share is the percentage of time your ad is in the first place.
And here is how to check.
You can look at this at the campaign level, at the ad group level. This particular view is the campaign level.
And I’ve got search top impression share. And search absolute top impression share.
How you populate these columns is you go over here, you click columns and you go through and you can populate Search Top Impression Share and Absolute top impression Share and you can move the columns around to get them in the right order.
So looking at the results in these particular campaigns, this one absolute top impression share, 75% and 75%.
It’s also in the top four. This 41 percent, they are in the top four and 20% of the time they’re absolute top in first place.
And then 58% here 30% absolute top in first place.
What can impact your absolute top and top impression share?
A number of factors your quality score, your ad strength, but also your budget and your target cost per acquisition.
So there are a number of different variables that can impact the percentage of what you’re getting when your ads are showing at the top or absolute top.
So you’re going to have to experiment up your budget, up your bid, up your top target CPA dollar amount that you’re willing to spend for a conversion and you’ll see your impression shares adjust.
