Today I’m going to show you how you should target all of the United States.
If in fact you sell throughout all of the United States.
Why you should NOT target all of the United States in the location section. You should target each state individually.
When I tell you this, you’re going to think, why didn’t I think of that?
Instead of targeting by all United States, target by individual States.
And here’s why.
You go to your campaign and then under locations.
I’ve got this one set up by state. The reason is over time you can start looking at your conversion tracking data to determine, hey, New York is performing better or Florida is performing worse.
Then you can go back into your location section and either number one, remove Florida altogether if in fact you’re losing money there.
Or you can do a negative bid adjustment here’s, Florida, do a negative bid adjustment, change this to decrease.
And let’s say you want to drop by 50%.
This tells Google you want to pay half as much in CPC in Florida because you know it underperforms.
Now you can also do the opposite. You can increase it.
Let’s say Florida is outperforming. You can increase it by 100%.
Let’s say so you’re telling Google you’re willing to spend 100% more per click because you know you have a better chance of getting high quality conversions in Florida.
So adding an increase of 100% tells Google system that.
So target by state, not by the United States. And if you want this list in an Excel spreadsheet where you can easily copy and paste it and put it right into here, you can go here, you don’t have to type in every single state you do add bulk locations and paste all 50 States right in there.
Click save and you’re done. That’s it.
