Cosmetic surgeons. Here are the top tips to make sure your images on your surgery website do not make your Google Ads strongly restricted.
I’m Todd Nevins. I’m the founder of CLICKPlacement. We’re a Google partner.
Do you prefer watching versus reading?? Watch the video here…
We work with a bunch of cosmetic surgeons. And having ads strongly restricted versus moderately restricted strongly is a campaign killer, and it will halt your ads from serving.
We’re going to go through the steps to get out of that mess right now.
Just to give you some context, this is the website that we are driving traffic through with Google Ads.
It’s MX Plastic Surgeons, which is a medical tourism site for cosmetic surgery in Mexico City, providing face, neck, breast and body type procedures, which the body and the breast procedure pages are certainly the ones that were causing strong restrictions.

And how do you know if your ad is a strongly restricted ad?
You simply go to the ad on the ads on the left hand nav and right here under status.

You can see we had strongly restricted ads a few different times, and now we just show that we have moderately restricted and health impersonalized advertising.
These are normal because this one is.
Although it’s in the breast campaign, we know through past experience that the one that was causing us problems was the brazilian butt lift procedure page.
We first had a these images up and they were causing problems because you can go over on the left and read the specific reasons why ads are strongly restricted.

And Google considered that to be nudity exposed. Intimate body parts, including blurred or censored images.

So female breasts or buttocks.
These images did show female butt, but these do not.
When we switched out the images with these, then ask for an appeal, the ads became moderately restricted.

When you read through this, it is confusing and misleading.
So the lower outer curve, I’m under moderately restricted right now.

Partial nudity, lower and outer curve, female exposed breasts, majority of buttocks exposed.
This would be considered moderately restricted.
But no, it was actually strongly restricted because when we change the images to these, so in workout pants versus string bikinis or lingerie, the ads became approved.
One thing that we do not have on this website, and it is super important, is the before and after photos.
These are an accident waiting to happen.
If you have before and after photos, we highly suggest you put them behind a pop up that asks the person to make sure that they are 18 years of age or older.
This also restricts Google’s crawler from finding these images as well.
One important thing to mention is that even though we had BBL images that were causing our ads to be strongly restricted, all of the ads were strongly restricted in all of our campaigns, even the facelift campaign that had no images of the female or male body.

So this isn’t just images on the specific landing page where you’re sending traffic from Google, it is all of the images on the website.
So once you’ve changed out the images, here is what you do.
You go down, view appeal ads and you do not tell the system that you’ve made the changes to comply.
I’m going to get there right now. Boom. Track appeal.

You do not tell the system that you have made changes to comply because, look at that, we failed when we chose that reason for we were requesting Google to crawl through our site again or to have it manually reviewed.
You dispute the decision, disputing the decision, even though you changed the images.

So you’ve actually made changes to comply with the policy.
You dispute the decision and it goes through a different type of a review.
And you can see here we were successful.
I hope that helps you get out of the strongly restricted mess.
It’s frustrating, and even though you finally get your ads moderately restricted and your ads start running again a week later, they could fall back into a strongly restricted area.
You go back in, you request an appeal, and you say dispute decision, and it will go through the appeal process and hopefully get approved again.
There’s always live chat within Google Ads to help to get online.
Hopefully get somebody that’s good, that can force this through review and help you get your ads running again.
I hope this helps you.
